August/September/October 2003

Greetings!
Time keeps flying past and I have not been able to write. I vow to do a better job in the future. Thank you to those who have asked about the GO SPA NEWSLETTER. It’s always nice to know that people are reading it and actually miss it.

GO Spa Donates to Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund at Frederick Memorial Hospital
We will be donating $1.00 for every massage and nail service booked and paid for during the week of 10/10-18/03. I have 2 friends who have been fighting this disease since they were 30 years old so this charity it is close to my heart. Schedule your appointment and help support Breast Cancer Awareness.

An Evening on the Riviera
Friday, October 10 was a fabulous event for all who attended. Wine and food from the areas best restaurants who competed for prizes. Dancing and festivities of all kinds. The Golden Orchid was happy to donate a Petite Retreat and Executive Mans package for the silent auction. Heartly House, Community Living and the Mental Health Association will all receive proceeds from the event. Don’t miss this special night next year.

GO Spa Keeps Sunday Hours
We tried it and you liked it. We wanted to offer our clients additional hours to fit into their busy lives. Sundays seem to fit the bill so we will continue to have Sunday hours. Book your appointments from noon – 5pm.

Gallery Walk Update
GO SPA will be participating in the November and December Gallery walks. November 1st is a special Holiday Open House in Eveready Square so many special events will be happening. Please drop by and visit us from 6pm – 9pm for refreshments and sample some of our services. Carriage rides will be available from the corner of Church and East Streets.

Look Who's Joined Us
Christine Cardelli comes to us from a salon in Rockville. Since graduating from Von Lee International, she has been an esthetician since the early 90’s and is now becoming a nail technician. She has appointments available Tuesday through Friday and every other Saturday. She is also working some Sundays. Christine has a very quite, calming touch.

Theresa Thompson is an esthetician available evenings and Sundays and every other Saturday. She has been in the industry since 1981. Theresa has worked at other area salons and continues to enhance her skills through BioElements trainings. She enjoys all aspects of esthetics and shares her knowledge with her clients.

We also work with The Flower Vendor and for an additional $35.00, they will deliver your gift with a bouquet of Golden Orchids. Call now, finish your shopping early and enjoy your holidays with friends and family.

If you’re looking for something else to give, stop in and browse. We are about to expand our gift offering and it will include hand crafted jewelry, home accents and bath and body products.

Frosty Friday (November 28th)
Downtown will be hosting Frosty Friday as an alternative to the chaos in the malls on this busy shopping day. The day after Thanksgiving is known as the busiest of the year but downtown is making it an event to remember. Stores will be opening at 8am and closing at 9pm. Several restaurants are offering special breakfast and brunch menus, musicians and street performers will be bringing in the holiday cheer. Look for chestnuts roasting, hot cocoa stations and gift wrapping. Don’t forget Santa arrives on the corner of Church and East Street at 6pm and then goes to I Made This pottery to spend some time with the kids. Parents are welcome to bring cameras.

GO Spa will be hosting $5.00 chair massage at the Venus on the Half Shell store on Market Street to help ease the weary shopper from 2:30-6:30.

    Tips and Treats

  • Often, less is more but when it comes to eyebrows – be careful.
  • Don’t let anyone alter the natural contours and lines you’ve been given.
  • Since eyes are the windows to the soul, framing them is essential!
  • Prepare for winter…. Don’t forget to turn off your outdoor water spout before it freezes.
  • Perk up your fresh cut flowers… Submerge drooping roses in warm water (flower and all) and cut an inch off the bottom while submerged. Leave under water for at least 20 minutes. This allows the air bubble, causing the drooping, to escape.

    Peace and good health,
